Blu-ray Review: 'The Choice'

Ready to jump back into the romantic world of Nicholas Sparks?  Then follow us as we check out the new to Blu-ray flick “The Choice” out now from Lionsgate Home Entertainment.  We see if there is cinematic heat in the chemistry below!

   Title: “The Choice”

   Grade: 3

Cast: Benjamin Walker, Teresa Palmer, Maggie Grace

   Director: Ross Katz

   Rating: PG-13

   Runtime: 111 minutes

   Release Company: Lionsgate Home Entertainment

The Flick: Much more relatable than most of the dramatic Nicholas Sparks book to screen adaptations, “The Choice” feels much more like a real-life romance.  The lead characters, southern playboy Benjamin Walker and tough-willed gal Teresa Palmer, bring a decent amount of both sizzle and sass playing an unlikely couple that don’t exactly hit it off right away.  Of course the film does eventually go into schmaltzy and sappy territory (not to mention being filled with the all the standard Sparks topes!), but thankfully this is one coupling that feels way more authentic.

Best Feature: Fans of Sparks will find him all over the special features here, but for an overall film glance ‘Cinematic Choices: Making The Choice’ gets the job done.

Best Hidden Gem: Tom Wilkinson plays a nice roll as Walker’s dear old dad who has lady problems of his own.

Worth the Moola: While not so far from the myriad of Sparks flicks that came before, there’s just enough love/hate heat between the two lead lovebirds to make it worth watching.
