A couple of the Raptors were out late the night before the team lost 116 – 78 to the Cavaliers in embarrassing fashion.
Toronto starter DeMarre Carroll and backup guard Cory Joseph were seen together at the Jack Casino near Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland at two in the morning.
They were with a large group of people.
The Raptors had a team dinner on Tuesday night, followed up a viewing of the Western Conference game between the Thunder and Golden State Warriors. Then, it was supposed to be bedtime.
Coach Dwane Casey says he was surprised to learn Carroll and Joseph stayed out so late. However, he doesn’t believe it’s the reason the team lost since nobody showed up.
The Raptors lost by 38 points.
“This has nothing to do with curfew.”
“I didn’t know that,” Casey said. “This isn’t why we lost. … This is the NBA, they’re grown men. These are grown men. These things happen.”
“That’s not why we lost,” Casey reiterated. “It was an 8:30 game. That’s the good thing, I guess.”
Carroll and Joseph hit a combined 3 of 12 shots for 8 points during Wednesday night’s game. The Cavs destroyed the entire team, much to the love of social media. Neither were available for comment after the game.
Team supporter Drake sent a motivational message on Instagram.
