Woman Rushed To Hospital After Shark Bite With Shark Still Attached To Her Arm

A Florida woman was bitten by a shark on Sunday and taken to the hospital – with the small shark still latched on to her arm. Witnesses claim that the unidentified 23-year-old woman was playing with the baby nurse shark before it sunk its teeth into her arm and would not let go.

The incident occurred off the coast of Boca Raton on Sunday afternoon, where a witness says the victim and her friends were “holding the shark by its tail. They were messing with it.”

The woman emerged from the water with the shark still attached to her arm, but it would not release its grip. “The shark wouldn’t give up,” witness Shlomo Jacob told the Sun Sentinel. “It was barely breathing but it wasn’t letting go of her arm, like it was stuck to her or something.”

A male companion held the shark while the woman approached a lifeguard station. She appeared calm while a crowd gathered around her, but by the time an ambulance had arrived ten minutes later, she had begun to panic. Paramedics gave her an oxygen mask, affixed the shark to her arm with a sprint, and loaded her onto the ambulance with a stretcher.

Officials have said that the woman, whose name has still not been released, is in stable condition and would likely be released from the hospital within the day.
